쟁반, bandeja

▶ poner (algo) en bandeja

: make something easy/make it easy

: 편리하게/쉽게 만들다.

✒️ La profesora nos ha estado dando pistas y nos está poniendo el examen en bandeja. Así seguro que aprobaremos todos. → The teacher has been giving us hints and is putting the exam on a platter. That way we will all pass for sure.

선생님은 우리에게 힌트를 주셔서 시험이 쉬웠다. 우리는 시험을 통과할 거라 확신한다.

pista: nf. track, trail, clue, 발자국, 단서, 실마리, 트랙
Los pilotos debían tener cuidado con la pista mojada. → The racers had to be careful with the wet track.
Si encontramos más pistas, podemos resolver el misterio. → If we find more clues, we can solve the mystery.
examen: nm. review, test, exam, assessment, investigation
El informe proporciona un examen de los proyectos actuales. → The report provides a review of the current projects. 
Aprobé el examen porque sabía las respuestas. → I passed the exam because I knew the answers.
aprobar: v. approve, pass, endorse
El Gobierno aprobó una enmienda al proyecto de ley. → The government approved an amendment to the bill.
La directiva aprobó nuestro plan de eficiencia. → The management endorsed our efficiency plan.

▶ hacer borrón y cuenta nueva

: wipe the slate clean,  let bygones be bygones

: start with a clean slate or as if nothing had happened

: 과거를 잊고 새출발 하다. 

✒️ Juan y María han hecho borrón y cuenta nueva y van a darse una nueva oportunidad. → Juan and Maria have wiped the slate clean and are going to give themselves a new chance.

후안과 마리아는 과거를 잊고 새 출발 하기로 했다. 그리고 서로에게 새로운 기회를 줄 것이다.

borrón: nm. blot, stain, blemish, 얼룩, 오점
oportunidad: nf. opportunity, chance, occasion, timeliness 안성맞춤
El Gobierno tiene que evaluar la oportunidad de la intervención. → The government has to assess the timeliness of the intervention. 
Tuve la oportunidad de comprar una casa a un precio excelente. → I had the opportunity to buy a house at an excellent price.

 

끓이다, 굽다, cocer

▶ en todas partes cuecen habas

: everywhere there are problems 

: (직역) 곳곳에서 콩이 구워지고 있다.

: 어디에든 문제들이 있다. 어딜 가든 문제들은 있기 마련이다.  

✒️  Pensaba que vivir en Alemania sería más sencillo y encontraría menos obstáculos.

 Bueno, ya sabes que en todas partes cuecen habas. → 

I thought that living in Germany would be easier and I would encounter fewer obstacles.
Well, you know, there's trouble everywhere.

나는 독일에서 살면 좀 더 편리하고 어려움도 덜 할 것 같아. 

음... 어디에서든 문제들은 생겨. 알잖아.

sencillo: a. simple, easy, straightforward
Por suerte, las preguntas del examen eran sencillas. → Fortunately, the exam questions were simple.
Le pedimos al profesor una explicación sencilla. → We asked the teacher for a straightforward explanation. 
encontrar: v. find, meet, encounter
Encontré mis llaves después de buscar por todos lados. → I found my keys after looking everywhere.
La empresaria superó los obstáculos que encontró en el camino. → The entrepreneur overcame the obstacles she met along the way.
La probabilidad de encontrar un ciervo en la ciudad es baja. → The likelihood of encountering a deer in the city is low.
haba: nf. bean

 

먹다, comer

▶ comerse el mundo

: (직역) eating up the world, 
: to conquer the world (with a lot of energy), overcome cheerfully the difficulties of life, achieve great things

: (직역) 세상을 먹다. ; 어려움을 극복하다. 세상을 정복하다. 대단한 걸 이루다.

✒️ Después de dos años sin actuar, mi grupo favorito vuelve para comerse el mundo. → After two years without performing, my favorite band is back to conquer the world.

내가 좋아하는 밴드는 2년간의 활동 중단 후, 세상을 정복하기 위해 돌아왔다. 

actuar: v. act, perform, take actions
Tenemos que actuar deprisa si queremos resultados. → We need to act fast if we want results.
Un actor famoso actuará en la obra esta noche. → A famous actor will perform in the play tonight. 

 

▶ donde comen dos, comen tres

: (직역) where two eat, three eat

: there is always room for one more person

: 무엇이든, 어디서든 한 사람을 위한 자리(여유)는 있다. 

✒️ Pensé que no venías y reservé sólo mesa para cuatro. Pero no te preocupes: donde comen dos, comen tres.→ I thought you weren't coming and I only reserved a table for four. But don't worry: where two eat, three eat.

네가 오지 않을 거라 생각해서 4 명을 위한 테이블을 예약했어. 그렇지만 걱정마. 한 사람 더 추가하는 건 문제없어.

preocupar: v. concern, worry, bother
El mal tiempo nunca preocupa a los marineros veteranos. → Bad weather never worries veteran sailors.
La falta de lluvia preocupó a algunos agricultores. → The lack of rain bothered some farmers. 

 

▶ comer como una lima

: (직역) eat like a lime

: eat a lot, eat like a horse, eat greedly

: 무지 많이 먹다. 게걸스럽게 먹다

✒️ No me extraña que hayas engordado. Comes como una lima. → No wonder you've put on weight. You eat like a lime.

네가 살이 찐 것이 전혀 이상하지 않다. 너 말처럼 먹는다!

extraña: a. strange, odd, foreign
Escuché un ruido extraño y abrí la puerta con cautela. → I heard a strange noise and opened the door with caution.
Algunas costumbres del explorador eran extrañas para los nativos. →Some of the explorer's customs were foreign to the natives. 
engordar: v. gain (weight), fatten

 

▶ echar de comer aparte

: (직역) to eat on the side
: someone is special and should be treated differently. keep someone at a distance.

: (대하기 까다로운 사람을, 사교적이지 않은 사람 등) 다르게 대하다. 거리를 두다.

✒️ Tu hermano tiene muy mal humor. Hay que echarle de comer aparte. → Your brother has a very bad temper. He needs to be kept at a distance.

너의 형은 성질이 더럽다. 그와 거리를 두는 게 좋겠다. 

echar: v. pour, cast, lay, toss
Eché leche en el vaso. → I poured milk into the glass.
La bruja le echó un hechizo. → The witch cast a spell on him. 
No pudimos decidirnos, así que echamos una moneda. → We could not decide, so we tossed a coin.

 

▶ sin comerlo ni beberlo

: (직역) without eating or drinking
: without having anything to do with a matter/without being guilty

: 어떤 일/상황에 처했는데, 그 일과는 아무 관련이 없는 경우, 무죄다.

✒️ Sin comerlo ni beberlo, la policía arrestó a Luis. Creyeron que era un delicuente. → Without eating or drinking, the police arrested Luis. They thought he was a criminal.

경찰이 루이스를 체포했다. 루이스는 그 사건과 아무 상관이 없다. 경찰은 그가 범인이라고 생각했다.

arrestar: v. arrest, bust
La policía arrestó al hombre que cometió el delito. → The police arrested the man who committed the crime.
La policía arrestó al ladrón. → The police busted the thief. 
delincuente: nm. offender, criminal / a. delinquent 비행의, 범죄 성향을 보이는, (금융) 채무를 이행하지 않는

 

빵, pan

▶ pan con pan, comida de tontos

: bread with bread, food for fools
: mixing two things that are the same doesn't make sense

: (직역) 빵과 빵, 바보들의 음식, 같은 것을 섞거나 늘 같은 일을 하면 재미없다. 

✒️ Ya sé que pan con pan es comida de tontos, pero me encanta comer pan con la pasta. → I know that bread with bread is fool's food, but I love to eat bread with pasta.

(이걸 어떻게 해석하지?) 빵을 빵과 함께 먹는 건 재미없다. 나는 빵을 파스타와 함께 먹는 걸 좋아한다. 

아마도 늘 같은 것만 하고 있어서 재미가 없고, 그래서 새로운 걸 하는 걸 좋아한다고 말하는 게 아닐까? (은유적)

tonto: foolish, silly, stupid, dumb
Aprobé el examen a pesar de un fallo tonto. → I passed the exam despite a foolish mistake.
El comediante contó varios chistes tontos. → The comedian told a number of silly jokes.  
Me siento tonto porque no entiendo la física. → I feel dumb because I do not understand physics.
