일, 작업(Obra)과 관련된 관용 표현

 

obra 공사

▶ manos a la obra

: get to work, start working or doing something

: 일을 시작하다. 무언가를 하다.

✒️ Debemos sacar las cosas antes de las 12, así que hay que ponerse ya manos a la obra. → We have to get things out before 12 o'clock, so let's get down to work.

우리는 12시까지 그 일들을 끝내야 합니다. 바로 일을 시작합시다.

sacar: v. take, get sthn, get sth. out, take out, bring out
Saqué dos bombones de la caja y me los comí. → I took two chocolates from the box and ate them. 
La niña saca buenas notas. → The girl gets good grades.
Mi hermana sacó el dinero de su cartera para pagar. → My sister got the money out of her purse to pay.
Saqué el pastel del horno para dejarlo enfriar. → I took the cake out of the oven to let it cool down.

 

clavo 못

▶ dar en el clavo

: hit the nail on the head

: 정곡을 찌르다. 정확히 맞는 말을 하다.

✒️ Creo que Esteban es una persona muy interesada. Has dado en el clavo. →

I think Esteban is a very interested person. You hit the nail on the head.

에스테반은 정말 흥미로운(이기적인?) 사람이다. 너는 정곡을 찔렀다.

🤔 앞뒤 상황이 없어서 해석이 좀 어색하네요. 문맥을 보면 "이기적인"이 맞는 것 같습니다.

interesado: a. interested, concerned, curious, selfish, self-interested
las partes interesadas tendrán que firmar el contrato mañana → the interested parties will have to sign the contract tomorrow.
lo veo muy interesado → he seems really self-interested
Estoy interesada en saber qué pasó. → I am curious to know what happened.

 

▶ un clavo saca a otro clavo

: (직역) one nail drives/takes out another nail

: with a new love you forget an old one

: "전여친/남친을 잊는 방법은 새 여자 친구/남자 친구를 사귀는 것이다" 

✒️ Deberías salir y conocer nuevas chicas. Ya sabes que un clavo saca a otro clavo. → You should go out and meet new girls. You know that the best way to get over someone is to find someone new.

너는 밖으로 나가서 새로운 여친을 만나야 한다. 옛사랑을 잊는 최고의 방법은 새로운 사랑을 만나는 것을 알잖아.

conocer: v. meet, get to know
Mi padre no conocía a mi amigo, así que los presenté. → My father had not met my friend, so I introduced them.
Conocí al cineasta personalmente cuando lo entrevisté. → I met the filmmaker in person when I interviewed him.

 

rosca 나사, 나사못

▶ pasarse de rosca

: go too far, overdoing it, overdoing it in behavior

: 너무 나갔다. 과하다. 

✒️ Raquel se pasó de rosca en la reunión con ese chiste tan grosero. → Raquel went too far in the meeting with that rude joke.

라켈은 그 미팅에서 무례한 농담을 하다니, 좀 지나쳤다.

chiste: nm. joke, gag, jest
Mi padre rompió el silencio incómodo con un chiste. → My father broke the awkward silence with a joke.
grosero: a. rude, gross, foul, impolite
Mi madre dice que señalar a la gente con el dedo es grosero. → My mother says that pointing at people is rude.
Está prohibido utilizar un lenguaje grosero en clase. → The use of foul language in class is forbidden.

 

 

chapa 판자

▶ no dar/pegar ni chapa

: not to lift a finger, being a slacker

: 손하나 까딱하지 않다. 게으름을 피우다.

✒️ Este verano no he dado ni chapa. He estado todo el día tumbado al sol en la piscina. → This summer I didn't lift a finger. I spent every day sunbathing at the pool.

이번 여름에 게으름을 피웠다. 나는 매일 풀장에서 일광욕을 했다.

tumbado: a. flattened
estar tumbado = lie
tumbar: v. take sb./sth. down, deck sb., knock down, lay, amaze
anto alcohol acabó tumbándolo → all that alcohol ended up laying him out.
el espectáculo me dejó tumbado → the sight overwhelmed me

 

 

Listón (좁은)널빤지, 가로대

▶ poner alto el listón/poner el listón alto

: (직역) set the bar / set the par high

: be very demanding or set a limit that is difficult to surpass

: 요구 사항을 늘리다, 목표를 아주 높게 잡다.

: (반대 표현) poner el listón bajo 목표를 낮게 잡다. 요구 사항을 줄이다.

✒️ Eduardo ha compuesto una canción para la clase de música y ha dejado el listón muy alto. No creo que nadie le supere. → Eduardo has written a song for music class and has set the bar very high. I don't think anyone can beat him.

에두아르도는 음악 수업을 위해 노래를 작곡했다. 그리고 목표를 아주 높게 잡았다. 나는 아무도 그를 이길 수 없을 것이라 생각한다. 

🤔 해석이 뭔가 어색하다. 

componer: v. compose
El músico compuso una ópera. → The musician composed an opera.
superar: v. overcome, exceed, pass, get over
Podemos superar cualquier obstáculo si no nos rendimos. → We can overcome any obstacle if we do not give up.
Los excelentes resultados superaron mis expectativas. → The excellent results exceeded my expectations.
Superé la entrevista y conseguí el trabajo. → I passed the interview and got the job.

 

 

losa 타일, 평판(돌이나 목재로 된)

▶ pesar como una losa

: (직역) weighing like a burden

: something that is hard to bear, weigh like a millstone round one's neck

:  내가 감당하기에 벅찬 것

✒️ Que me haya despedido es algo que me pesa como una losa. → The fact that I was fired is something that weighs on me like a slab.

내가 해고되었다는 것은 나에게 너무나 힘들다.

despedir: v. dismiss, fire, lay off
Nuestra jefa nunca despidió a nadie sin un buen motivo. → Our boss never dismissed anyone without a good reason. 
El jefe decidió no despedir a sus empleados.  → The boss decided not to fire his employees.
El nuevo jefe no quería despedir a ningún trabajador. → The new boss did not want to lay off any workers.

 

 

maña 솜씨, 재주

▶ más vale maña que fuerza

: skill is better than power

: 힘보다는 꾀가 낫다. 

✒️Si sigues apretando la tapa, vas a romper el frasco. Para abrirlo más vale maña que fuerza. → If you keep tightening the lid, you will break the jar. To open it, skill is better than force.

뚜껑을 계속 누르면 그 병이 깨질 것이다. 그걸 열려면 힘보다는 꾀가 낫다.

aprentar: v. press, tighten, pull, grip
Apreté el botón para encender la televisión. → I pressed the button to turn on the television. 
Apreté las tuercas con una llave inglesa. → I tightened the nuts with a wrench.
El vendedor nos enseñó cómo apretar el gatillo de la pistola. → The salesman showed us how to pull the trigger of the pistol.
tapa: nf. cover, lid, cap, flap(덮개)
La tapa delantera protege la lente de la cámara. → The front cover protects the camera's lens.
Puse la tapa sobre la sartén para mantener caliente la comida. → I put the lid on the frying pan to keep the food warm.
frasco: nm. bottle, vial, jar
El mago tenía un frasco de poción mágica. → The wizard had a vial of magic potion.

 

 

pintar, 칠하다, 그리다

▶ no pintar nada

: (직역) not painting anything

: being out of place, count for nothing, not important

: 어울리지 않는, 부적절한, 중요하지 않은

✒️ Tu exnovio no pintada nada en nuestra boda.→ Your ex-boyfriend was out of place at our wedding.

너의 전남친이 우리 결혼식에 오는 것은 적절하지 않다.

exnovio: 전 남자 친구, ex-boyfriend
boda: nf. wedding, marriage
La boda real fue un evento memorable. → The royal wedding was a memorable event.
Aún tenemos que fijar una fecha para la boda. → We still have to set a date for the wedding.

 

 

▶ no querer ver a alguien ni en pintura

: (직역) not to want to see someone even in paint

: not wanting to meet anyone under any curcumstances

: 어떤 상황에서도 누군가를 만나고/마주치고 싶지 않다. 

✒️ Estoy muy enfadada con mi hijo por culpa de su travesura. Ahora mismo no quiero verlo ni en pintura. → I am very angry with my son because of his mischief(나쁜 짓, 장난). I don't even want to see him right now.

나는 내 아들에게 매우 화가 났다. 왜냐하면 그 녀석의 말썽 때문에. 나는 지금 그놈을 보고 싶지 않다.

enfadado: a. angry, annoyed, cross
Cuando estoy enfadada no quiero hablarle a nadie. → When I am angry, I do not want to talk to anyone.
Estoy enfadada porque mi vuelo se ha retrasado. → I am annoyed because my flight has been delayed.
Mi hermana estaba enfadada conmigo porque llegué tarde. → My sister was cross with me because I was late.
culpa: nf. fault, blame, guilt
por culpa de = due to, on account of, because of
Tuvimos un problema técnico, no fue culpa de nadie. → We had a technical problem, it was nobody's fault.
El jefe asumió la culpa por todos los fallos. → The boss took the blame for all mistakes.
