스페인어의 관용 표현들을 계속 정리하고 있습니다. 오늘은 과일 Frutas 단어들이 사용된 표현들을 정리했습니다. 체리 cereza, 레몬 limón, 사과 manzana, 배 pera, 바나나 plátano, 수박 sandía, 포도 uva가 사용된 재미있는 표현들입니다. 스페인의 문화에 대해서도 간접적으로 느낄 수 있었습니다.

Cereza 체리

Cerezas y mentiras, unas de otras tiran

: (직역) Cherries and lies, one leads to another.

: One lie leads to another.

: 거짓말은 거짓말을 낳는다.

 

✒️ Alex mintió sobre sus conocimientos de inglés en la entrevista y ahora anda poniéndole excusas a su jefe.

Ya sabes: cerezas y mentiras, unas de otras tiran.

→ Alex lied about his English skills in the interview and now he is walking around giving excuses to his boss. You know what they say: cherries and lies, one leads to another.

→ 알렉스는 면접에서 그의 영어 실력에 대해 거짓말을 했다. 지금 그는 그의 상사에게  용서를 구하기 위해 고민하고 있다. 거짓은 거짓을 낳는다.

mentir: v. lie (to), cheat, tell a lie
Mi amiga es muy honesta, nunca miente. My friend is very honest, she never lies.
Una empresa honesta nunca miente a sus clientes. An honest company never cheats its customers.
conocimiento: nm. understanding, awareness, know-how
Los estudiantes tienen algún conocimiento sobre el nuevo tema. The students have some understanding of the new topic.
tirar: v. pull, throw, dump, ditch, dash
Si la palanca se atasca, simplemente tiro más fuerte. If the lever sticks, I just pull harder.
El niño tiró la pelota por encima de la valla. The boy threw the ball over the fence.
Doné mi ropa vieja en vez de tirarla. I donated my old clothes instead of dumping them.
Los ladrones tiraron las armas y huyeron de la escena del crimen. The robbers ditched the guns and fled the crime scene.
El fuerte viento tiró varias ramas al suelo. The strong wind dashed several branches to the ground.

 

 Limón 레몬

Si la vida te da limones, haz limonada.

: (직역) If life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

: Make the most of everything you have, even if it's bad.

: 레몬을 주면, 레몬에이드를 만들어라. → 상황이 어렵다 해도, 최선의 방법을 찾다, 기회로 활용해라의 의미

 

✒️ Juanma aprendió a programar mientras estuvo en paro. Ahora trabaja de informático en una gran empresa. Si la vida te da limones, haz limonada.

→ Juanma learned to program while she was unemployed. She now works as a computer scientist in a large company. If life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

→ 후아나는 직업이 없을 때 코딩을 배웠다. 그녀는 지금 큰 회사의 컴퓨터 사이언티스트로 일하고 있다. 삶이 고난을 주거든, 오히려 그것을 이용해라.

aprender: v. learn, acquire
El principio director del campamento es aprender algo nuevo cada día. → The camp's guiding principle is to learn something new every day.
Los niños deben aprender a respetar las normas. → Children must learn to respect the rules.
Los niños aprendieron varios idiomas en la escuela. → The children acquired several languages at school.
paro: nm. unemployment, strike, stop
parar: v. stop, cut, cease, stall
Él es capaz de correr durante horas sin parar. → He is able to run for hours without stopping.
El tren para en dos estaciones antes de llegar a París. → The train calls at two stations before arriving in Paris.
Paré la canción para escuchar lo que decía mi madre. → I paused the song to hear what my mother was saying.
Ambas empresas decidieron parar las negociaciones. → Both companies decided to stall the negotiations.

 

Manzana  사과

La fruta prohibida es la más apetecida

: (직역) The forbidden fruit is the most desired.

: What is physically or morally harmful attracts.

: 금지된 과일이 가장 먹고 싶다. → 해로운 것이 끌린다.

 

✒️ Mauro es diabético pero le encantan los bombones. La fruta prohibida es la más apetecida.

→ Mauro is diabetic but he loves chocolates. The forbidden fruit is the most desired.

→ 마우로는 당뇨병이 있지만 초콜릿을 좋아한다. 금지된 과일이 가장 먹고 싶다.

 

✒️ Adolescentes son atraídos por el alcohol y el tabaco porque son frutas prohibidas.

→ Teenagers are attracted to alcohol and tobacco because they are forbidden fruits.

→ 십대들은 술과 담배에 매우 끌린다. 왜냐하면 그것들은 금지된 과일이니까.

🤔 한글로 번역이 너무 저질이다. 스페인어 공부가 아니라 한국어 어휘 공부를 해야 할 듯.

diabético: nm. diabetic / a. diabetic
Los diabéticos deben limitar la ingesta de azúcar. → Diabetics have to limit their intake of sugar.
bombón: nm. chocolate,  bonbon
apetecido: a. desired
apetecer: v. crave, feel like
Durante el embarazo, me apetecía siempre tomar helado. → During my pregnancy, I craved ice cream all the time.
atraído: a. attracted, drawn, lured, tempted
Siempre me he sentido atraído por las ruinas antiguas. → I have always been drawn to ancient ruins.

 

No mezclar peras con manzanas.

: (직역) Don't mix pears with apples.

: A bad analogy between two elements that have nothing to do with each other. Two things are not comparable.

: 비교 불가능한 것을 비교하지 마라. 비교 거리가 아니다.

  🤔 Lingolia에는 No가 없는데, 추가하는 것이 나을 것 같다. 보통 문장에서 No가 함께 사용된다.

 

✒️ Mateo está castigado por suspender todas las asignaturas y yo por llegar tarde a casa una noche. No mezcles peras con manzanas.

→ Mateo is punished for failing all his courses and I am punished for coming home late one night. Don't mix pears with apples.

→ 마테오는 그의 모든 코스에서 실패해서 혼났고, 나는 집에 늦게 와서 혼난 것이다. 마테오와 나를 비교하지 마라.

castigado: a. punished, sanctioned
castigar: v. punish, ground sb., correct
Mis padres me castigaron porque me porté mal. → My parents grounded me because I behaved badly.
Mis padres no me castigaron porque me porté bien. → My parents did not correct me because I behaved well.
suspender: v. suspend, stop, discontinue
El árbitro suspendió el partido debido al mal tiempo. → The referee suspended the game due to bad weather.
La árbitra suspendió el partido debido a la fuerte lluvia. → The referee stopped the game due to the heavy rain.
La fábrica suspendió la producción del modelo viejo. → The factory discontinued production of the old model.
asignatura: nf. subject, course
mezclar: v. mix, blend, combine
Si mezclas el azul y el amarillo, obtienes el verde. → If you mix blue and yellow, you get green.
El cocinero mezcló la leche con la harina y los huevos. → The cook blended the milk with the flour and the eggs.
El cocinero mezcló todos los ingredientes. → The cook combined all the ingredients.

 

 

Pera 배

No le pidas peras al olmo.

: (직역) Don't ask the elm for pears.

: Don't expect something impossible.

: 느릅나무 아래서 배를 요구하지 마라. → 불가능한 것을 기대하지 마라

 

✒️ Si celebramos nuestra boda en nuestro jardín, no podremos invitar a más de 50 personas. No le pidas peras al olmo.

→ If we celebrate our wedding in our garden, we will not be able to invite more than 50 people. Don't ask the elm for pears.

→ 우리가 결혼식을 정원에서 한다면, 50명 이상의 하객을 초대할 수는 없을 것이다. 불가능한 것을 기대하지 말자. (정원에서 결혼식을 할 수는 없다.) 

celebrar: v. celebrate
Mi familia hizo una fiesta para celebrar mi retorno a casa. → My family threw a party to celebrate my return home.
Todos celebraron el cese de las hostilidades. → Everyone celebrated the cessation of hostilities.
pedir: v. ask (for), request, order, book, invite, call (on)
El anfitrión pidió a sus invitados ser puntuales. → The host asked his guests to be punctual.
Pedí otra almohada en el hotel. → I requested another pillow in the hotel.
La familia pidió una pizza para cenar. → The family ordered pizza for dinner.
Necesito llamar a mi dentista para pedir una cita. → I need to call my dentist to book an appointment.
El abogado pidió a las partes que negociaran. → The lawyer invited the parties to negotiate.

 

Plátano  바나나

Plátano maduro no vuelve a verde.

: (직역) Ripe banana does not turn green.

: You can't turn back time.

: 익은 바나나는 녹색으로 되돌릴 수 없다. → 시간을 되돌릴 수 없다.

 

✒️Tendría que haber estudiado más cuando era joven. Plátano maduro no vuelve a verde.

→ I should have studied more when I was young. Ripe banana does not turn green.

→ 내가 어렸을 때 공부를 더 열심히 했어야 했다. 시간은 되돌릴 수 없다. ㅜㅜ

joven: a. young
La victoria fue un gran éxito para el joven atleta. → The victory was a great achievement for the young athlete.
Nunca he visto semejante talento en un cantante joven. → I have never seen such talent in a young singer.

 

 

Sandía 수박

Algún día mi gato comerá sandía.

: (직역) Someday my cat will eat watermelon.

: Some day it will happen.

: 언젠가 나의 고양이는 수박을 먹을 것이다. → 언젠가 그 일은 이루어진다.

 

✒️ Algún día habré ahorrado suficiente dinero para pasarme un año viajando por el mundo. Algún día mi gato comerá sandía.

→ Someday I will have saved enough money to spend a year traveling the world. Someday my cat will eat watermelon.

→ 언젠가 나는 일 년 동안 세계 여행을 할 만큼 돈을 모으게 될 것이다. 언젠가 그것은 이루어질 것이다. 

ahorrar: v. save, save money, conserve
Estoy ahorrando dinero para comprar una casa. I am saving money to buy a house.
Cambié los ajustes de mi teléfono para ahorrar batería. → I changed my phone settings to save battery.
El contador enseñó a sus clientes cómo ahorrar dinero. → The accountant showed his clients how to save money.
Cuando la pantalla está apagada, el sistema ahorra energía automáticamente. → When the screen is off, the system automatically conserves power.

 

 

Uva 포도

De uvas a peras.

: (직역) From grapes to pears

: to describe something that happens very rarely. 

: 아주 가끔, 드물게 

🤔 이 표현은 포도와 배의 수확 시기가 다른 것에서 왔다. 포도는 가을, 배는 여름에 수확 

 

✒️Marga y yo tenemos muy poco tiempo libre. Nos vemos de uvas a peras.

→ Marga and I have very little free time. We see each other from grapes to pears.

→ 마르가와 나는 여유 시간이 거의 없다. 우리는 거의 만나지 못한다. (아주 가끔 만난다.)

libre: a. free, available, leisure, clear
Me gusta pintar en mi tiempo libre. → I like to paint in my free time.
Me gusta leer en mi tiempo libre. → I like to read in my leisure time.
Llegué a tiempo porque la carretera estaba libre de tráfico. → I arrived on time because the road was clear of traffic.
El jefe nos dio el día libre en un arranque de entusiasmo. → The boss gave us the day off in a burst of enthusiasm.
El cuarto no está libre hoy. → The room is not available today.
