No sé si estáis de acuerdo conmigo, pero cre que una de las cosas que más cuesta en esta vida es vencer la timidez para invitar a alguien a salir contigo. Es una situación que pone a prueba nuestra valentía y nos saca de nuestra zona de confort, especialmente si esa persona nos gusta mucho.

 

Recuerdo que en una de las clases de mi primer semestre en la universidad había una chica muy guapa; ella era una de las chicas más populares del grupo y además era muy inteligente.

 

Desde un principio me convencí de que ella estaba fuera de mi alcance, pues pasaba la mayor parte del tiempo con otros de mis compañeros que eran más guapos y populares que yo, y por lo tanto asumí que ellos tendrían muchas más posibilidades de salir con ella. Curiosamente, me enteré de que, aunque no tenía novio, nunca salió con ninguno de ellos.

 

Esto me hizo pensar que a lo mejor debía dejar la timidez a un lado y empezar a tirarle los tejos sutilmente, pues me moría de ganas por salir con ella. Pasaron varios meses hasta que finalmente me armé de valor para hablar con ella e invitarla a salir, pero fue entonces cuando descubrí que se mudaría a otra ciudad y quizás nunca más volvería a verla.

 

Como un año después tuvimos una conversación por chat y tomándole el pelo me animé a decirle que estuve a punto de invitarla a salir. Para mi sorpresa ella respondió que yo también le gustaba entonces y que le hubiese encantado salir conmigo. No hace falta que os diga como me sentí.

 

En resumidas cuenta, muchas veces perdemos buenas oportunidades en la vida porque nos rendimos antes de intentarlo. Si cultivásemos nuestra autoestima y aprendiésemos a confiar un poco más en nosotros mismos, sería mucho más fácil conquistar nuestros sueños.

It was several months before I finally got up the courage to talk to her and ask her out, but that's when I found out that she was moving to another city and I might never see her again.
