스페인어의 속담, 관용 표현에 대해 정리를 했습니다. 오늘 표현에 사용된 단어들은 야채입니다. Ajo 마늘, alubia 강낭콩, cebolla 양파,  lechuga 상추, pepino 오히, pimiento 고추, rábano 무, tomate 토마토가 사용된 표현입니다. 재미있는 표현들이며 자주 복습을 하며 익히면 좋을 것 같습니다.

Ajo 마늘

Quien se pica, ajos come.

: (직역) Whoever bites, eat garlic.

: When someone suddenly intervenes in a conversation and feels alluded to with something negative.

: 도둑이 제 발 저리다. 찔리는 구석이 있다. 무언가 사실인 것을 보고(듣고) 양심에 가책을 느끼게 되는 상황.

 

✒️ Manuel me miró el móvil y vio un mensaje que hablaba sobre él. Quien se pica, ajos come. 

→ Manuel looked at my cell phone and saw a message talking about him. He who itches, eats garlic.

→ 마누엘은 내 전화기에서 그에 대해 이야기하는 메시지를 보았다. 찔리는 구석이 있을 것이다.

picar: v. chop, bite, sting
Piqué la cebolla muy fina y la añadí a la salsa. → I finely chopped the onion and added it to the sauce.
Los mosquitos nunca me pican cuando uso repelente. Mosquitoes never bite me when I use repellent.
Las abejas solo pican a la gente cuando se sienten amenazadas. Bees only sting people when they feel threatened.

 

Alubia 강낭콩

Marzo en lluvias, buen año de alubias.

: (직역) March in rains, good year for beans.

: You have to look on the bright side: rain in March is bad for the cereal harvest, but good for the bean harvest.

: 어떤 일이 벌어졌을 때 긍정적인 면을 보아야 한다는 의미

 

✒️ He tenido que vender mi coche al taller tras su avería, pero desde entonces voy a todas partes en bicicleta y me he puesto en forma. Marzo en lluvias, buen año de alubias.

→ I had to sell my car to the garage after it broke down, but since then I've been cycling everywhere and I've been getting in shape. March in rains, good year for beans.

→ 나의 차고장이 나서, 차를 팔아야만 했다. 그 후로 나는 어디든 자전거를 타고 가며 나의 몸은 좋아졌다. 긍정적인 생각을 하자. 

taller: workshop, shop, garage, atelier
El carpintero hizo una mesa en su taller. → The carpenter made a table in his workshop.
El taller de reparación ofrece un servicio gratuito de localización de averías. → The repair shop offers a free troubleshooting service.
El taller puede adquirir repuestos para mi vieja motocicleta. → The garage can procure spare parts for my old motorcycle.
El artista está pintando un retrato en su taller. → The artist is painting a portrait in his atelier.
avería: nf. breakdown, fault, failure
Debido a la tormenta se produjo una avería en la red. → Due to the thunderstorm there was a breakdown of the network.
El técnico arregló la avería eléctrica. → The technician fixed the electric failure.

 

Cebolla 양파

Contigo, pan y cebolla; con otro/-a, ni olla.

: (직역) With you, bread and onions; with someone else, no pot.

: When you are in love with someone regardless of their purchasing power.

: 너와 함께라면 비싼 것들 필요가 없다. 

 

✒️ No me hace falta cenar en restaurantes de estrellas Michelin contigo. Contigo, pan y cebolla; con otro, ni olla.

→ I don't need to dine in Michelin star restaurants with you. With you, bread and onions; with someone else, no pot.

→ 나는 미슐렝 식당에서 저녁 식사를 할 필요가 없다. 너와 함께라면 빵과 양파, 그리고 다른 무엇이든 좋다. 

falta: nf. lack, absence, fault, foul, loss
La confusión se debió a una falta de comunicación. → The confusion was due to a lack of communication.
La falta de sueño puede causar fatiga. → Lack of sleep can cause fatigue.
La oscuridad es la falta de luz. → Darkness is the absence of light.
La principal falta de mi padre es su mal genio. → My father's main fault is his bad temper.
olla: nf. pot, soucepan
El agua en la olla ya está hirviendo. → The water in the pot is already boiling.

 

Quien parte cebolla, sin pena llora.

: (직역) Whoever splits onions, cries without sorrow.

: The onion makes the eyes cry.

: 양파는 눈물을 흘리게 한다.

🤔 다른 의미가 있는지 구글링을 해 보았지만, 단순히 양파 때문에 눈물이 나는 것 외의 의미를 찾을 수 없었다.

 

✒️ Desde que me he puesto a cocinar, no puedo dejar de llorar. Quien parte cebolla, sin pena llora.

→ Since I've started cooking, I can't stop crying. Whoever slices onions, without sorrow cries.

→ 내가 요리를 시작한 후로 눈물을 멈출 수 없다. 양파는 나를 울게 한다.

 

cocinar: v. cook, prepare something, plot, cook up
deben estar cocinando algo → they must be plotting something ⧫ they must be up to something
llorar: v. cry, mourn, weep
La atleta lloró de satisfacción al ganar la medalla de oro. → The athlete cried with happiness after winning the gold medal.
El niño lloró un poco, pero su herida no era muy grave. → The boy cried a little, but his injury wasn't very bad.
La niña dejó de llorar cuando encontró a su madre. → The girl stopped weeping when she found her mother.
pena: nf. penalty, punishment, sorrow, shame, hurt
El autor expresa una profunda pena en el poema. → The author expresses a deep sorrow in the poem.
Es una pena que mi amiga no pudiera venir a la fiesta. → It is a shame that my friend could not come to the party.
Rescatar al cachorro alivió la pena de verlo abandonado. → Rescuing the puppy relieved the hurt of seeing it abandoned.

 

Lechuga 상추

Entre col y col, lechuga.

: (직역) Between cabbage and cabbage, lettuce.

: Between good events, less good things also happen.

:  배추와 배추 사이에 상추 → 좋은 것들 사이에 덜 좋은 일도 생긴다. 

 

✒️ Me han dado un premio en el trabajo, me han subido el sueldo y me he encontrado un billete de cinco euros en el metro. Entre col y col, lechuga.

→ I got an award at work, I got a raise, and I found a five-euro bill in the subway. Between cabbage and cabbage, lettuce.

→ 나는 직장에서 상을 받았고, 승진을 했다. 그리고 지하철에서 5유로도 주웠다. 큰 일 사이에 작은 일도 생긴다.

premio: nm. prize, award, crown
El dinero del premio me permitió viajar alrededor del mundo. The prize money allowed me to travel around the world.
El ganador del concurso ha recibido un premio. The winner of the competition has received an award.
Nuestro equipo de baloncesto ganó el premio del torneo. Our basketball team won the tournament crown.
sueldo: nm. wage, salary
Los sueldos se pagarán a fin de mes. The wages will be paid at the end of the month.
Los nuevos empleados ganan un buen sueldo. The new employees earn good wages.
El empleado pidió un aumento de sueldo. The employee asked for a higher salary.
billete: nm. ticket, bill, note
Me olvidé de comprar un billete para el tren y tuve que pagar una multa. I forgot to buy a train ticket and had to pay a fine.
Después del trabajo, el camarero contó los billetes y las monedas. After work, the waiter counted the bills and coins.
No tenía billetes y tuve que pagar con monedas. I did not have notes and had to pay with coins.

 

Pepino 오이

Pedir pepinos en enero es pedir de un majadero.

: (직역) To ask for cucumbers in January is to ask for a mug.

: To ask for something impossible.

: 불가능한 것을 요구하다.

 

✒️ - En la reunión de esta tarde pediré que nos suban el sueldo, nos den más días de vacaciones y nos dejen trabajar desde casa.
- No te pases, pedir pepinos en enero es pedir de un majadero.

→ - At this afternoon's meeting I'll ask for a pay rise, more vacation days and to be allowed to work from home.
- Don't overdo it, asking for cucumbers in January is asking for a pest.

→ - 오후 미팅에서 나는 급여 인상, 더 많은 휴가, 재택 근무를 요구할 것이다.

- 오버하지 마라! 불가능한 것을 요구하고 있다. 

trabajar desde casa = 재택 근무, work from home
reunión: nf. meeting, gathering, conference
Mi reunión con el equipo fue muy productiva. → My meeting with the team was very productive.
Estuve con muchos amigos en la reunión anual del club. → I met many friends at the club's annual gathering.

 

Pimiento 고추

¡No vale un pimiento!

: (직역) It's not worth a damn!

: It's not worth anything.

: 아무(거의) 가치가 없다.

 

✒️ Mi coche tiene más de 20 años y casi medio millón de kilómetros. ¡No vale un pimiento!

→ My car is more than 20 years old and has almost half a million kilometers on it. It's not worth a damn!

→ 나의 자동차는 20년이 넘었고 거의 50만 킬로미터를 운행했다. 이제 그 차는 거의 가치가 없다.

coche: nm. car, vehicle
casi: ad. almost, nearly
Mi hijo tiene casi seis años. → My son is almost six years old.
La rueda estaba suelta y casi me caí de la bicicleta. → The wheel was loose and I nearly fell off the bicycle.
Los campos se extienden casi hasta las montañas. → The fields nearly reach the mountains.

 

Me importa un pimiento.

: (직역) I don't give a damn.

: I don't give a damn. I don't give a shit!

: 그딴거 신경 안 쓴다. 

 

✒️ La empresa de transportes dice que no nos trae la nevera hasta la puerta porque nuestro edificio no tiene ascensor. ¡Pues me importa un pimiento!

→ The trucking company says they won't bring the refrigerator to our door because our building doesn't have an elevator. Well, I don't give a damn!

→ 그 운송회사는 냉장고를 우리 문까지 배달하지 않을 거라고 했다. 왜냐하면 우리 빌딩은 엘리베이터가 없기 때문에. 뭐 상관없다.

nevera: nf. fridge, refrigerator, icebox
La carne cruda debería conservarse en la nevera. → Raw meat should be kept in the refrigerator.
La comida se descompondrá si no está en la nevera. → The food will decay if not in the refrigerator.
ascensor: nm. elevator, lift
Podemos tomar el ascensor hasta el tercer piso. → We can take the lift to the third floor.

 

Irse al cerro del pimiento.

: (직역) Going to the bell pepper hill.

: Getting worse and worse.

: 점점 상황이 악화되다. 설상가상이다.

 

✒️ Creí que Diego ya habría dejado de estar enfadado conmigo, pero me ha bloqueado en todas las redes sociales. Esto se está yendo al cerro del pimiento.

→ I thought Diego would have stopped being mad at me by now, but he's blocked me on all the social networks. This is going down the bell pepper hill.

→ 나는 디에고가 지금 나에게 화를 내는 것을 그만두었으면 하고 생각했다. 그러나 그는 모든 소셜 네트워크에서 나를 차단했다. 점점 상황이 악화되고 있다. 

creer: v. believe, feel, think, expect
Los niños suelen creer en los cuentos de hadas. → Children often believe in fairy tales.
Creo que mi solución es la mejor. → I think my solution is the best.
Creo que mi inglés ha mejorado mucho. → I feel that my English has improved a lot.
Creo que llegaremos mañana. → I expect that we will arrive tomorrow.
enfadado: a. angry, annoyed
Cuando estoy enfadada no quiero hablarle a nadie. → When I am angry, I do not want to talk to anyone.
Estoy enfadada porque mi vuelo se ha retrasado. → I am annoyed because my flight has been delayed.
bloquear: v. block out
bloqueqado: a. blocked, locked
cerro: nm. hill, mountain, ridge

 

Rábano  무

En Madrid, cuando pasan rábanos, se compran.

: (직역) In Madrid, when radishes happen, you buy them.

: Take advantage of the occasion.

: 상황/때/기회를 이용하다.

 

✒️ Siempre he querido tener un perrito y mi vecina acaba de ofrecerte uno en adopción. En Madrid, cuando pasan rábanos, se compran.

→ I've always wanted to have a puppy and my neighbor has just offered you one for adoption. In Madrid, when radishes happen, they are bought.

→ 나는 항상 강아지를 갖고 싶었다. 그런데 나의 이웃이 너에게 한 마리 입양을 제안했다. 이 기회를 이용해야겠다. 

🤔 문맥상으로는 ofrecerme 같지만, 예문에 te로 되어 있어서 그대로 해석을 했다.

perrito: nm. perro 개의 축소형, 강아지, puppy, little dog
ofrecer: v. offer, provide deliver
El anfitrión ofreció comida y bebida a los invitados. → The host offered the guests food and drink.
La organización benéfica ofreció ayuda a los necesitados. → The charity offered relief to those in need.
La organización benéfica ofrece alojamiento a las personas sin hogar. → The charity provides housing for the homeless.
El hotel ofrece un servicio de talla mundial. → The hotel delivers world-class service.
adopción: nf. adoption, adopting, implementation
La adopción de nuevas medidas de seguridad fue un éxito. → The implementation of new security measures was a success.

 

Más frío que lavando rábanos.

: (직역) Colder than washing radishes.

: It is very cold.

: 무를 씻을 때보다 더 춥다! → 매우 춥다

 

✒️ En mi oficina ponen el aire acondicionado a 19 grados. Hace más frío que lavando rábanos.

→ In my office they set the air conditioning at 19 degrees. It's colder than washing radishes.

→ 사무실의 에어컨의 온도를 19도로 설정해 두었다. 무지 춥다. 

oficina: nf. office, bureau, department
Hoy firmé el arrendamiento de mi nueva oficina. I signed the lease of my new office today.
El periódico tiene una oficina en cada capital europea. The newspaper has a bureau in every European capital.
Nuestra oficina se encarga de los asuntos de desarrollo social. Our department deals with social development issues.
hacer: v. do, offer, perform, make, wage
Hacer obras de caridad es algo verdaderamente noble. Doing charity work is something thoroughly noble.
El mecánico hizo una revisión minuciosa del automóvil. The mechanic performed a thorough inspection of the automobile.
El carpintero hizo una nueva mesa de roble. The carpenter made a new oak table.
El gobierno está haciendo una campaña contra la pobreza. The government is waging a campaign against poverty.

 

Tomate 토마토

Si quieres tomates, deja de plantar pepinos.

: (직역) If you want tomatoes, stop planting cucumbers.

: If you want something, work to make it happen.

: 토마토를 원한다면 오이를 심는 것을 멈춰라! → 너의 목적/바람과 부합하는 행동을 해라!

 

✒️ Si quieres conservar tu trabajo, deja de llegar tarde todos los días. Si quieres tomates, deja de plantar pepinos.

→ If you want to keep your job, stop being late every day. If you want tomatoes, stop planting cucumbers.

→ 너의 직업을 유지하고 싶다면, 매일 지각하는 것을 멈추어라. 원하는 것과 행동하는 것이 일치해야 한다!

conservar: v. preserve, keep, conserve, store, retain
Trabajo mucho para conservar la confianza de mis clientes. I work hard to preserve my clients' trust.
Siempre conservo los recibos de todas mis compras. I always keep receipts for all my purchases.
El nuevo sistema de rociadores ayuda a conservar el agua. The new sprinkler system helps to conserve water.
Conservé el producto en un lugar fresco y seco. I stored the product in a cool, dry place.
dejar de + 부정사 = Stop + ~ing
