: (직역) put in the scissors

: censoring a text, cutting budgets

: 편집하여 짧게 만들다, 예산을 깎다

누군가가 이 기사를 칼질한 것이 분명하다.

Mis alumnos notaron mi nuevo corte de pelo. → My students noticed my new haircut.

l compositor de la pieza también dirigió la orquesta. → The composer of the piece also directed the orchestra.

Nombramos a un nuevo gerente para dirigir la empresa. → We appointed a new manager to run the company.
cortarse: v. cut, break
Necesito cortarme el pelo antes de la boda. → I need to cut my hair before the wedding.

 

Peine 빗

▶ enterarse de lo que vale un peine

: (직역) find out how much a comb is worth

: someone gets the punishment or chastisement he deserves

: vale un peine는 영어로 직역하면 be worth a comb인데, 비유적 의미는 to be punished이다. 이 표현은 주로 유머로 사용되는데, 진지한 상황에서도 사용된다. 대상이 어떤 행동의 개선 없이 반복할 경우 사용할 수 있다.

✒️ Si vuelves a llegar tarde, te vas a enterar de lo que vale un peine → If you're late again, you'll find out what a comb is worth.

만약 다시 한번 늦는다면, 넌 그에 합당한 대가를 치르게 될 것이다.

Me enteré de la última dieta de moda por la televisión. → I learned about the latest diet craze on television.
Acabo de enterarme de que mi hija está embarazada. → I just found out that my daughter is pregnant.

▶ más seco que la mojama

: (직역) drier than salted tuna

: very dry

: 매우 건조하다. 매우 말랐다.

이 또르띠야는 진짜 말랐다. (건조하다)

Un fuego puede propagarse rápidamente por un bosque seco. → A fire can quickly spread through a dry forest.

Yo lavo los platos y mi hermano los seca. → I wash the dishes and my brother dries them.

▶ quedarse o dejar a alguien seco

: (직역) to stay or leave someone dry

: to leave someone immobile or speechless

✒️ Cuando me dijeron que Luis y María se habían separado, me quedé seco. → When they told me that Luis and María had broken up, I was speechless.

루이스와 마리아가 헤어졌다는 것을 들었을 때, 충격적이어서 나는 말문이 막혔다.

Nos quedamos en el hotel tres días. → We stayed at the hotel for three days.
Me quedé en casa para cuidar al gato. → I remained at home to take care of the cat.

 

 

▶ no tener (ni) un pelo de tonto

: (직역) to have (not) a hair's breadth of foolishness

:  not dumb at all, some one is very intelligent

: 바보가 아니다. 똑똑하다 정도로 해석 가능함

✒️Marta no tiene ni un pelo de tonta. Si te ha dicho eso, será porque está tramando algo. →

Marta is not dumb at all. If she told you that, it's because she's up to something.

마르타는 바보가 아니다. 만약 그녀가 너에게 그걸 말했다면, 그건 그녀에게 무언가가 이유가 있기 때문이다.

El comediante contó varios chistes tontos. → The comedian told a number of silly jokes.
Aprobé el examen a pesar de un fallo tonto. → I passed the exam despite a foolish mistake.
tramar: v. plot, weave, scheme
El villano tramó su venganza contra el héroe. → The villain plotted his revenge against the hero.
El prisionero tramó un plan para escaparse. → The prisoner wove a plan to escape.

 

 

▶ por los pelos

: (직역) by the hair

: by the skin of her teeth

: 간신히, 가까스로

✒️ Mi hermana ha aprobado selectividad por los pelos. → My sister passed the university entrance exam by the skin of her teeth.

나의 여동생은 대학 입학시험에 가까스로 통과했다.

aprobar: v. approve, pass, endorse, sign off(승인하다)

▶ pelillos a la mar

: (직역) hair to the see

: let bygones be bygones

: 지난 원한/오해를 잊다. 지나간 것은 지나간 것이다. 화해하다.

✒️ Deja de hablar de antiguos rencores y echemos pelillos a la mar. → Stop talking about old grudges and let's get rid of them.

더 이상 지나간 유감은 말하지 말자. 지나간 것은 잊자.

rencor: nm. resentment, bitterness, grudge, 앙심, 원한
echar: v. throw (away), cast, toss, give, put, pour, expel, push, cut, sprout, post, mail
🤔 굉장히 다양한 의미로 활용된다. 여러 예문을 통해 감을 익혀야 하는 단어.

echó un poco de vino en un vaso  → he poured some wine into a glass
tengo que echar de comer a los animales → I have to feed the animals
lo han echado del colegio → he’s been expelled from school

▶ soltarse el pelo/la melena

: (직역) let your hair down

: let their hair down and having fun. let go of their inhibitions and enjoy themselves.

: 내려 놓고 즐기다. 거리낌 없이(억제하지 않고) 즐기다.

✒️ Desde que me dejó mi novia no he salido. Pero hoy voy a soltarme la melena y salir de fiesta. → Since my girlfriend left me, I haven't gone out. But today I'm going to let loose and go out partying.

나의 여자친구가 나를 떠난 이후로, 나는 밖으로 나가지 않았다. 그러나 오늘 나는 다 내려놓고 나가서 파티를 즐겼다.

desde que: conj. ever since
Desde que nació mi hijo, soy mucho más feliz. → Ever since my son was born, I have been much happier.

 

 

▶ tirarse de los pelos

: (직역) pull your hair out

: freaking out

: 매우 좌절스럽고 화가나는 상태를 표현

✒️ Es la segunda vez que llamo para cancelar el contrato y nadie lo coge. Estoy que me tiro de los pelos. → This is the second time I've called to cancel the contract and no one picks up. I'm so frustrated I'm pulling my hair out.

이번이 두번째다. 내가 계약 취소를 위해 전화를 한 것이. 그런데 아무도 전화를 받지 않는다. 미쳐버리겠다.

contrato: nm. contract, agreement
Las partes firmaron el contrato. → The parties signed the contract.
Los inquilinos quieren cambiar las condiciones del contrato. → The tenants want to change the terms of the agreement.
