날다, Volar

▶ Más vale pájaro en mano que ciento volando.

: (직역) A bird in the hand is better than a hundred in the air. 

: (의미) better to seize the opportunity that comes your way, than to watch it pass you by.
: 기회가 오면 잡아야 한다. 

✒️ Creo que deberías aceptar esa oferta de trabajo. Más vale pájaro en mano que ciento volando. → I think you should take that job offer. Better a bird in the hand than a hundred in the air.

너는 그 일의 제안을 받아들여야 한다고 생각한다. 기회는 왔을 때 잡아야 한다.

volar: v. fly, blow, soar, blast
El avión está volando sobre el océano. → The plane is flying over the ocean.
Las hojas caídas volaban al viento por todo el jardín. → Fallen leaves were blowing in the wind all over the garden.
El pájaro vuela por encima del mar. → The bird soars over the sea.

▶ El que no corre, vuela.

: If you don't hurry, then you lose the opportunity.

: 직역하면 "그는 달리지 않는다. 난다." 인데, 인터넷을 찾아보니 두 가지 의미로 사용되는 속담이 것 같다. ① 무언가를 얻기/성취하기 위해서는 달리는 것 이상으로 열심히 해야 한다. ② 매우 영리하고 민첩하게 수단과 방법을 가리지 않고 쟁취하는 사람을 묘사하는 것 같다. 영어에서 비슷한 속담으로는 다음과 같다.

• He who hesitates is lost.
• The early bird catches the worm.
• You snooze, you lose.
• You have to be quick off the mark.

✒️ Si quieres conseguir un buen asiento, tienes que ser rápido. Aquí el que no corre vuela.

→ If you want to get a good seat, you have to be quick. Here he who doesn't run flies.

좋은 자리를 잡고 싶다면, 서둘러야 한다. 여기는 뛰는 놈 위에 나는 놈이 있다.

conseguir: v. achieve, obtain, gain, attain, succeed
Una empresa próspera consigue beneficios elevados. A successful company achieves high profits.
Conseguí la información que necesitaba. I obtained the information I needed.
El estudiante consiguió encontrar trabajo. The student succeeded in finding a job.

 

▶ (No) lanzar las campanas al vuelo. = (no) echar las campanas a vuelo

:(don't) rejoice before the time, too early to celebrate. 

: 축하하기엔 너무 이르다.  

✒️ - Creo que voy a sacar un 10 en el examen.
- Si aún no sabes la nota, no deberías lanzar las campanas al vuelo.

→ - I think I'm going to get an A on the exam.
- If you don't know the grade yet, you shouldn't be too excited about it.

나 시험에서 A학점 받을 것 같아. 아직 등급을 모른다면, 너무 성급하게 기뻐하지 마.

lanzar: v. launch, throw
La agencia espacial lanzará un cohete el mes que viene. The space agency will launch a rocket next month.
El soldado lanzó la granada sin tirar de la anilla. The soldier threw the grenade without pulling the pin.
campana: nf. bell, chime, hood
aún es pronto para echar las campanas al vuelo it’s still too early to celebrate
Siempre enciendo la campana cuando cocino. I always switch on the hood when I cook.

 

기차, Tren

▶ subirse al tren

: seize an opportunity (whether you are entitled to it or not).

: 기회를 잡아라.

✒️ Luis se ha subido al tren y ha invertido en bolsa, como todos recomiendan.

→ Luis has jumped on the train and invested in the stock market, as everyone recommends.

루이스는 기회를 잡았고 주식 시장에 투자를 했다. 모두가 추천을 한 것처럼.

subirse: v. get on, jump in
Después de decir adiós, la chica se subió al autobús. After saying goodbye, the girl got on the bus.
bolsa: nf. bag, pouch, stock exchange, stock market
Los inversores vendieron las acciones en la bolsa. Investors traded the shares on the stock exchange.
La profesora repartió una bolsa de chocolates entre sus alumnos. The teacher shared a bag of chocolates among her students.

 

 

▶ estar como un tren

: be very attractive, be hot stuff, be a bit of all right

: 매력 있다

✒️ El vecino de Juana está como un tren. → Juana's neighbor is very attractive.

후아나의 이웃은 매력 있다.

vecino: nm. neighbor, local, resident
Un vecino me ayudó a encontrar el camino al hotel. A local helped me find the way to the hotel.
Los vecinos costean la eliminación de residuos urbanos. The residents pay for the removal of urban waste.

 

▶ como para parar un tren

: a lot or too much

: 매우 풍부한 또는 너무 많은

✒️ En la fiesta había comida como para parar un tren. → There was enough food at the party to stop a train.

파티에서 음식이 정말 풍부했다.

 

▶ dejar pasar el último tren

: not to take advantage of the last opportunity
: 막차를 놓치다.

✒️ Tengo miedo de dejar pasar el último tren si no acepto esta oferta de trabajo. → 

I'm afraid I'll miss the last train if I don't accept this job offer.

이 일의 제안을 받아들이지 않는다면, 마지막 기회를 놓칠까 봐 걱정된다.

 

길, 도로, Vía

▶ estar/entrar en vía muerta

: being/going into a dead end, something to be paralyzed or suspended
: 막다른 길에 있다. (들어서다), 마비 상황이다.

✒️ Las negociaciones entre Israel y Palestina han entrado en vía muerta. → Negotiations between Israel and Palestine have entered a deadlock.

팔레스타인과 이스라엘의 협상이 막다른 길에 들어섰다. (마비 상황이다.)

muerto: a. dead, killed, numb, exhausted, dead tired
mis abuelos están muertos → my grandparents are dead
después del viaje estábamos muertos → we were dead tired

 

▶ por la vía rápida
: fast-track, to do things in the quickest and most efficient way available. 

: 가장 빠르고 효과적인 방법으로 하다.
✒️ Si quieres solucionar el problema por la vía rápida, cuéntaselo a la jefa. → If you want to fast-track the problem, tell the boss.

그 문제를 가장 빠르게 해결하고 싶다면, 보스에게 말해라.

 

▶ vía libre

: free way, have a clear path to get something done

: 자유롭게 무엇을 할 수 있다.

✒️ Tienes vía libre para decorar el piso como te parezca. →   You have a free way to decorate the apartment as you see fit. 원하는 대로 아파트를 자유롭게 꾸밀 수 있다.

parecer: v. feel like, seem, look, feel
Me parece que tomamos la mejor decisión. → I feel that we made the best decision.
A primera vista, la mujer parecía amable. → At first glance, the woman seemed friendly.
