얼음, Hielo

▶ romper el hielo

: Break the ice, starting to talk for the first time / taking the initiative

: 직역은 "얼음을 깨다"이며, 어색함을 깨거나, 대화를 시작할 때 사용한다.

✒️ El primer día de clase los alumnos no hablaron. Entonces la profesorá decidió romper el hielo. → On the first day of class the students didn't talk. So the teacher decided to break the ice.

첫날, 학생들은 이야기를 하지 않았다. 그래서 교사는 서먹함을 깨기로 했다. 

entonces: ad. then, at that time, so
desde entonces since then
en aquel entonces at that time
¿entonces cómo que no viniste? → then or so why didn’t you come?

 

눈, Nieve

▶año de nieves, año de bienes

: in the future there will be success 

: When it snows, after the thaw(해빙기) there is enough water for the harvest for the whole year.

: 미래에 좋은 일이 있을 것이다. 눈이 많이 오면 풍년이 들 것이다.

✒️ - Este año tengo mucho trabajo, creo que por fin podré irme de vacaciones.
- Bueno, ya sabes lo que se dice. Año de nieves, año de bienes.

→ - This year I have a lot of work, I think I will finally be able to go on vacation.
- Well, you know what they say. Year of snows, year of goods.

올해 일이 진짜 많다. 나는 마치면 휴가를 갈 수 있을 것이라 생각해.

그래, 눈이 많이 오면 풍년이 오잖아.

vacación: nf. vacation, 휴가
Quiero pasar mis vacaciones en otro país. → I want to spend my vacation in another county.

 

곰, Oso

▶ vender la piel del oso, antes de cazarlo

: Assume a victory, before it happens

: rejoice for something that has not yet happened.

: (떡 줄 사람은 생각도 않는데) 김칫국부터 마신다.

✒️  Seguro que me escogen para el puesto. Te invito a comer para celebrarlo.
 Yo no vendería la piel del oso, antes de cazarlo.

→ I'm sure I'll get picked for the job. I'll buy you lunch to celebrate.
 I wouldn't sell the bear's skin before the hunt.

escoger: v. choose, pick, select
El cliente escogió la camisa roja en vez de la verde. → The customer chose the red shirt instead of the green one.
Siempre escojo la mejor oferta. → I always pick the best offer.
Debes escoger la opción correcta para continuar. → You must select the correct option to continue.
puesto: nm. position, place, post, booth, job
El solicitante tiene un perfil ideal para el puesto. → The applicant has an ideal profile for the position.
Hubo cientos de solicitudes para el nuevo puesto. → There were hundreds of applications for the new post.
Hay muchos puestos en la feria de trabajo. → There are many booths at the job fair.
celebrar: v. celebrate, hold, party
Mi familia hizo una fiesta para celebrar mi retorno a casa. → My family threw a party to celebrate my return home.
Se celebran elecciones cada cuatro años. → Elections are held every four years.

 

겨울에 대해, Sobre el invierno

▶ hace un frio que pela

: It's freezing cold 

: 무지무지 춥다.

✒️Mañana va ha hacer un frío que pela. El termómetro bajará hasta los -10ºC. → Tomorrow it's going to be freezing cold. The thermometer will go down to -10ºC.

내일은 진짜 엄청 추울 것이다. 기온이 영하 10도 아래로 내려갈 것이다.

termómetro: nm. thermometer, 온도계

 

▶ estar muriéndose de frío / estar pasmado de frío 

: to be very cold / be freezing to death, be frozen to death

: 무지무지 춥다. 추워 죽겠다.

✒️ Tenía que haberme puesto el gorro. Estoy pasmado de frío. → I should have worn my hat. I'm freezing cold.

모자를 썼어야 했다. 추워 죽겠다.

puesto: pp. poner 동사의 과거분사, put on
pasmado: a. stunned, astounded, bewildered, freezing
pasmar: v. 얼어붙게 만들다, 실신시키다, 깜짝 놀라게 하다
