스페인어 관용 표현들 중에서 우리 신체의 부위들 중 발이 사용된 표현입니다. 문장을 통해 감을 익히고 듣거나 읽은 문장에 있는 단어들이 전부 아는 것임에도 불구하고 해석이 안 되는 경우가 있죠. 관용 표현의 의미를 모를 때입니다.

관용 표현 공부를 시작하자.

발, Pie

▶ levantarse con el pie izquierdo: have a bad day, Get out of the bad on the wrong side

: 재수가 없다. 운이 나쁘다. 기분이 잡치다

✒️ Hoy solo me ocurren desgracias. Me he levantado con el pie izquierdo. → Nothing but misfortune happens to me today. I got up on the wrong foot.

오늘 나에게 나쁜일만 일어났다. 재수가 없다.

desgracia: nf. misfortune, 불운, 재난
tuve la desgracia de encontrármelo en el cine → I was unfortunate enough to run into him at the cinema
levantarse: v. get up, stand up
me levanto todos los días a las ocho → I get up at eight every day

 

 ▶ con un pie dentro y otro fuera: getting out of something, 또는 

 undecided in an ambiguous situation; 애매한 상황에 있다. 결단성이 없다 또는

: 사전을 찾아 보았는데, tener un pie dentro y otro fuera 형태로만 나온다. con과 tener는 같은 의미로 볼 수 있다. 

Lingolia에서는 "saliendo de algo"로만 나와있다. 어딘가로부터 나간다, 떠난다는 의미 

 ✒️La empresa está vendiendo todas sus acciones y los trabajadores están con un pie dentro y otro fuera.

"그 회사는 모든 주식을 팔고 있다. 그리고 직원들은 회사를 떠나고 있다."  위의 문장에서는 떠난다는 해석이 적절해 보인다.  네이버 스페인어 사전과 다른 스페인어 사이트에서는 Undecided의 의미로 해석하고 있으니 참고.

acción: nf. action, share, stock 액션, 주식
La asociación quiere evaluar el alcance de sus acciones. → The association wants to assess the extent of its actions.

 

▶ no dar pie con bola: screw up, get everything wrong, not getting it right,  

: 일이 잘못 되다. 망치다.

✒️ Hoy estáis todos un poco atontados. No dais pie con bola. → Today you're all a little bit stunned. You're not getting anything right.

오늘 모든 것이 혼란스럽다. 되는 게 하나도 없다. 정도로 해석할 수 있을 것 같다.

atontado: a. bewildered, stunned, 혼란스러운, 어리둥절한

 

▶ al pie de la letra: to the letter, literally, word for word, down to the last detail

: 문자 그대로, 가감 없이, 완전히, 더하지도 빼지도 않고

✒️ Hay que hacer las cosas como el jefe ordene. Tenemos que hacer las cosas al pie de la letra. → We have to do things the way the boss tells us to do them. We have to do things to the letter.

보스가 지시한 것처럼 해야 할 것들이 있다. 우리는 그것들을 빠짐없이 해야 한다.

jefe: nm. head, chief, boss, manager, leader
Fui nombrado jefe de mi departamento ayer. → I was appointed head of my department yesterday.
El trabajo del jefe de equipo es proporcionar orientación a los nuevos. → The team leader's job is to provide guidance to newcomers.

 

▶ cojear del mismo pie: always have the same problem/quality, suffer from the same problem 

: cojear가 절뚝거리다, 느리게 나아가다라는 의미이다. 같은 발로 절뚝거린다는 것을 항상 같은 문제가 있다로 해석할 수 있다. 

✒️ Raúl nunca tiene la mejor nota en inglés porque los ejercicios de vocabulario no se le dan muy bien. Siempre cojea del mismo pie.  → Raul never gets the best grade in English because he is not very good at vocabulary exercises. He always suffers from the same problem.

cojear: limp, hobble, 다리를 절다, 기우뚱거리다
cojea de la pierna izquierda (temporalmente) → she’s limping on her left leg;
Estoy cojeando porque me duele un poco el pie.  → I'm limping because my foot hurts a bit.

 

▶ cojear del mismo pie que alguien: to have the same mentality as someone else

: 다른 사람과 같은 생각이다. 

✒️ El partido conservador y el partido unitario no están a favor de esa ley. Ambos partidos cojean del mismo pie. → The Conservative party and the Unitarian party are not in favor of such a law. Both parties have the same mentality.

보수당과 유니테리언 당은 그 법에 찬성하지 않는다. 두 정당은 같은 생각/입장이다. 

conservador: a. conservative, 보수의
Los valores conservadores suelen oponerse al cambio social. → Conservative values usually oppose social change.

 

▶ sacar los pies del tiesto: kick over the traces, 도를 넘다 

✒️ A Marisa le gusta mucho discutir, tanto que al final siempre termina sacando los pies del tiesto. → Marisa likes to argue a lot, so much so that in the end she always ends up kicking over the traces.

마리사는 토론을 너무 좋아한다. 그런 나머지 결국 항상 도를 넘게 된다. 

sacar: v. take (out), remove, draw
Saqué dos bombones de la caja y me los comí. → I took two chocolates from the box and ate them.
Saqué el pastel del horno para dejarlo enfriar. → I took the cake out of the oven to let it cool down.
tiesto: nm. flowerpot, pot, vessel

 

▶ empezar con buen/mal pie: start well, get off to a good start

: 출발이 좋다, 좋은 출발을 하다 정도로 해석하면 될 듯하다.

✒️ Hoy ha sido mi primer día de trabajo y he empezado con buen pie. No he cometido ni un solo error. → Today was my first day at work and I got off to a good start. I didn't make a single mistake.

empezar: v. start, begin
El concurso de baile empieza en diez minutos. → The dance competition starts in ten minutes.
Una vez que empiezo, nada puede detenerme. → Once I get started, nothing can stop me.

 

▶ andar con pies de plomo: be cautious, tread carefully, gingerly

: 신중히 하다, 조심스럽게 하다

✒️ Cuando hay que tomar partido por la opinión de un amigo u otro, yo siempre ando con pies de plomo. → When it comes to siding with the opinion of one friend or another, I am always cautious.

plomo: nm. lead, plumb, 납, 추, 봉돌, 무료한 것/사람
Hoy en día, la mayoría de pinturas no contienen plomo.  →Nowadays, most paints do not contain lead.

 

▶ parar los pies: to inturrupt inappropriate behavior.

: 부적절한 행동을 중단시키다.

✒️ Jorge empezó a comer tan rápido del plato que habíamos pedido para compartir que tuve que pararle los pies. → Jorge started eating so fast from the plate we had ordered to share that I had to stop his behavior.

호르헤는 음식을 무지 빨리 먹기 시작했다. 그 음식은 우리가 함께 공유 하려고 주문한 것이었다. 그래서 나는 그를 제지할 수밖에 없었다. 

parar: v. stop, pause, cease
Él es capaz de correr durante horas sin parar. → He is able to run for hours without stopping.
Paré la canción para escuchar lo que decía mi madre. → I paused the song to hear what my mother was saying.
compartir: v. share
Compartimos la misma opinión. → We share the same opinion.
Solía compartir piso con algunos amigos. → I used to share a flat with some friends.

 

▶ de (los) pies a (la) cabeza: from top to bottom, without exception

: 예외 없이, 머리부터 발끝까지

✒️ Rocío no come carne desde hace diez años. Es vegetariana de pies a cabeza. → Rocío has not eaten meat for ten years. She is a vegetarian through and through.

desde: prep. from, since
Mi hermana me vio desde el balcón. → My sister saw me from the balcony.
La ciudad se ha transformado desde mi última visita. → The city has changed since my last visit.
