손가락, Dedo

▶ como anillo al dedo: (somethign fits) perfectly, fits like a glove

: 꼭 들어맞게, 안성맞춤으로, 적절하게

✒️ Que tu vecino te lleve al trabajo seguro que te viene como anillo al dedo, ¿verdad?

→ Having your neighbor give you a ride to work sure fits you like a glove, doesn't it?

너의 이웃이 직장에 태워다 준다니 너에게 안성맞춤이다. 그렇지 않아?

🤔 이 문장은 구조가 잘 이해가 안 간다. 구글링을 해 보니 venir, caer, quedar, estar, calzar 동사가 주로 함께 사용된다고 나온다. 그렇다면 seguro는 que 이하의 como anillo.... 절을 강조하는 것으로 보고, 앞의 que 강조나 감탄의 표현으로 봐야 하는 것인가?

 

anillo: nm. ring
El anillo es de oro auténtico. → The ring is made of real gold.
Este anillo es una expresión de mi amor. → This ring is an expression of my love.

 

▶poner/meter el dedo en la llaga: talking about something that bothers or hurts another person.

: 아픈 곳을 손가락으로 찌르다, 문제의 핵심을 찌르다

✒️ Si ya sabías que tu primo había suspendido muchas asignaturas, no sé por qué le has preguntado por sus notas? Te gusta meter el dedo en la llaga. → If you already knew that your cousin had failed many subjects, I don't know why you asked him about his grades? You like to stick your finger in the wound.

suspender: v. suspend, fail, call off, quit
El árbitro suspendió el partido debido al mal tiempo. → The referee suspended the game due to bad weather.
El estudiante no estudió y suspendió el examen. → The student did not study and he failed the exam.
El país suspendió su misión diplomática. → The country called off its diplomatic mission.

 

▶pillarse los dedos: committing to something and not being able to do it

: 지키지 못할 것을 약속하는 것

✒️ Si no estás seguro de poder llegar a tiempo, no te comprometas porque luego vas a terminar pillándote los dedos. → If you're not sure you can make it on time, don't commit because you'll end up getting your fingers caught.

pillarse: v. catch 재귀동사
se pilló el dedo con la puerta → he caught his finger in the door

 

▶chuparse el dedo: being naive or foolish

: 직역은 자신의 손가락을 빨다이다. 바보다!

✒️ Sé lo que estás tramando. ¿O crees que me chupo el dedo? → I know what you're up to, or do you think I suck my thumb?

 나는 니가 꾸미는 것을 안다. 내가 바보라고 생각해?

tramar: v. plot, weave
El villano tramó su venganza contra el héroe. The villain plotted his revenge against the hero.
El prisionero tramó un plan para escaparse. The prisoner wove a plan to escape.
chupar: v. suck
La niña chupaba una piruleta. The girl was sucking a lollipop.

 

팔꿈치, Codo

▶codo con codo: side by side, working together as a team

: 함께

✒️ Forman un gran equipo; siempre trabajan codo con codo de manera incondicional. → They form a great team; they always work side by side unconditionally.

그들은 훌륭한 팀을 구성해서, 항상 함께 조건 없이 일한다.

manera: nf. way, manner, kind, style 
hay varias maneras de hacerlo → there are various ways of doing it
lo hizo de manera que nadie se dio cuenta → he did it so that nobody noticed
se lo dije con buenas maneras → I told him politely

 

▶hablar por los codos: talk excessively, without interruption

✒️ Soralla no está ni un minuto callada. Hablar por los codos. → Soralla is never quiet for a minute. To talk nineteen to the dozen..

소라야는 잠시도 말을 멈추지 않는다. 너무 많이 이야기한다.

🤔 talk nineteen to the dozen: 영어 관용표현으로 마구 지껄이다.

callado/a: a. silent, quiet, speechless
Me quedé callado para no despertar a mis hijos. → I stayed quiet so as not to wake up my children.

 

▶empinar el codo: drinking alcohol, booze, 술을 (진탕) 마시다

✒️El deporte favorito de esta generación es empinar el codo. → This generation's favorite sport is dringking alcohol.

이 세대가 가장 좋아하는 스포츠는 술마시기입니다.

empinar: drink, booze, raise,  (술 마시기 위해) 잔을 들어 올리다. 
deporte: sport, 스포츠
es muy aficionada al deporte → she is very keen on sport
el fútbol es mi deporte favorito → football is my favourite sport
unas zapatillas de deporte → a pair of sports shoes

 

 

▶hincar los codos: study

: 직역하면 팔꿈치를 고정한다인데, 공부하다의 의미

✒️ Tengo muchísimos que estudiar. Voy a estar toda la semana hincando los codos. →  I have a lot to study. I'm going to be studying  the whole week.

나는 공부할 게 엄청 많다. 나는 주말 내내 공부를 할 것이다.

muchísimo: a. a lot of, mucho의 절대최상급 / ad. a lot
[형용사]
había muchísima gente there were a lot of people
había muchísima comida there was a lot of food 
[부사]
me quiere muchísimo he loves me very much
llovía muchísimo it was raining very hard

 

목, Cuello

▶ estar con el agua al cuello: being overwhelmed,  

: 물이 목까지 차올랐다. 휘말려 있다. 꼼짝 못 하다.

✒️ Tengo tantas deudas con el banco que estoy con el agua al cuello. → I have so many debts with the bank that I'm up to my neck in water.

나는 은행에 빚이 많다. 그래서 나는 꼼짝 못 할 지경이다.

dueda: nf. debt
estar en deuda con algn (= estar agradecido) → to be indebted to sb
estar lleno de deudas → to be heavily in debt

 

어깨, Hombro

▶ arrimar el hombro: support someone, help, lend a hand

: 돕다, 공헌하다, 기여하다, 활발하게 일을 하다

✒️ En tiempos difíciles todos tenemos que arrimar el hombro.→ In difficult times we all have to help each other.

어려운 순간에 우리 모두는 서로 도와야 한다.

arrimar: v. move closer, bring nearer, ignore, shelve 
arrima tu silla a la mía  →bring your chair nearer to mine

 

▶mirar por encima del hombro: be arrogant

: 직역은 어깨 위를 통해/넘어 보다. 의미는 깔보다, 쉽게 여기다, 내려다보다

✒️  Este chico no me cae bien. Tengo la sensación de que me mirar por encima del hombro → I don't like this guy. I get the feeling that he looks down on me.

caer: v. fall, drop, be defeated
cayó al suelo y se dio un golpe en la cabeza  →he fell to the ground and hit his head
el niño cayó al río →  the child fell into the river
a lluvia caía incesantemente sobre Madrid → the rain was falling continuously on Madrid
cayó en la final ante su rival polaco → he was beaten in the final by his Polish rival

 

▶tener la cabeza sobre los hombros: being a mature person

 : 분별이 있다. 빈틈이 없다. to have one’s head screwed on (the right way)

 ✒️ Aunque es muy joven, se nota que es una chica muy responsable. Tiene la cabeza sobre los hombros. → Although she's very young, you can tell she's a very responsible girl. She has her head on her shoulders.

그녀는 젊지만, 책임감이 있다. 그녀는 분별이 있다. 

Aunque: conj. although, efen if, even though
Aunque estoy a dieta, de vez en cuando me como un helado. → Although I am on a diet, I occasionally eat an ice cream.
Voy de campamento este fin de semana aunque nieve. → I am going camping this weekend even if it snows.

 

▶(estar) manga por hombro: be in a mess, be all over the place

: 지저분한다.

✒️ ¡Qué desordenado está esto! Lo tienes todo manga por hombro. → What a mess this is! Everything is in a mess.

desordenado: a. messy, in a mess, disorderly, chaotic
Soy incapaz de trabajar si mi escritorio está desordenado. → I am unable to work if my desk is messy.

 

손톱, Uña

▶ ser uña y carne: be inseparable, 

 : 사이가 좋다. 끊으려고 해도 끊을 수 없는 사이다. 매우 친한 사이다.

✒️ Marga y yo siempre estamos juntas. Todo el mundo dice que somos uña y carne. → Marga and I are always together. Everyone says that we are fingernail and flesh.

마르가와 나는 항상 함께이다. 모두가 말한다. 우리는 매우 친한 사이라고.
