호박, calabaza

▶ dar calabazas (a alguien)

: give pumpkins → reject someone

: 퇴짜 놓다, 딱지 놓다, 시험에서 낙제시키다

✒️ Ignacio le ha pedido una cita a Inma y ella le ha dado calabazas. → Ignacio has asked Inma out on a date and she has given him a hard time.

이그나시오는 인마에게 데이트를 신청했다. 그런데 그녀는 퇴짜를 놓았다.

pedir: v. ask, ask for
El anfitrión pidió a sus invitados ser puntuales. → The host asked his guests to be punctual.
Le pedimos al experto un análisis integral. → We asked the expert for a comprehensive analysis.
calabaza: nf. pumpkin, squash, 호박

 

 

(물) 웅덩이, charco

▶ meterse en todos los charcos

: meddling in any issue or problem

: 모든 웅덩이에 뛰어들다 → 모든 이슈/문제에 참견하다.

✒️ - He ayudado a Ricardo con su trabajo de clase y ahora casi no tengo tiempo para hacer el mío.
- Deberías dejar de meterte en todos los charcos.
→ - I have helped Ricardo with his class work and now I hardly have time to do mine.
- You should stop getting into all the puddles.

리카르도의 숙제를 도와주느라 내 숙제를 할 시간이 거의 없다.

너는 모든 일에 끼어드는 것을 그만해야 한다.

ayudar: v. help, assist, contribute to
Ayudé a mi padre a mudarse a su nuevo hogar. → I helped my father move into his new home.
El enfermero ayudó a la doctora durante la operación. → The nurse assisted the doctor during the operation.
El reciclaje ayuda a proteger el medio ambiente. → Recycling contributes to protecting our environment.

 

▶ cruzar el charco

: cross the Atlantic Ocean

: 대서양을 횡단하다.

✒️ Miriam ha decidido cruzar el charco y se mudará a Venezuela. → Miriam has decided to cross the Atlantic Ocean and will move to Venezuela.

미리암은 대서양을 횡단하기로 결심했다. 그리고 베네수엘라로 갈 것이다.

cruzar: v. cross, straddle(가로지르다), cut
Una rejilla de metal evitó que los animales cruzaran la carretera. → A metal grid kept animals from crossing the road.
La carretera cruzaba la frontera entre los dos países. → The road straddled the border between the two countries.
Las vías del tren cruzan la carretera. → The rail tracks cut the road.

 

 

포도, Uva

▶ estar a por uvas

: be unaware of something, to be absent-minded (축구 기사/해설에서 많이 사용됨)

: 정신줄을 놓고 있다, 얼빠진, 건망증이 있는

✒️ Cuando te tiré las llaves, estabas a por uvas y por eso te dieron en la cara. → When I threw the keys at you, you were out of mind and that's why they hit you in the face.

내가 열쇠를 던졌을 때 네가 정신줄을 놓고 있어서 얼굴에 맞은 것이다.

tirar: v. throw, pull down, knock down, smash
les tiraban piedras a los soldados → they were throwing stones at the soldiers
dieron: v. dar 동사의 과거 3인칭 복수

 

▶ dar las uvas

: so much time is going to pass that in the end it will be New Year's Eve

: 무언가를 하는데 시간이 굉장히 오래 걸릴 것이다.

✒️ Para cuando terminen de arreglarse para el concierto, ya nos habrán dado las uvas. → By the time they finish getting ready for the concert, it will have taken so long time.

콘서트 준비를 마칠 때까지 시간이 굉장히 오래 걸릴 것이다.

arreglarse: v. get something ready, to do, come to an agreement, make up
yo tardo poco en arreglarme → I won’t take a moment to get myself ready
se arregla mucho para ir a trabajar → she gets really dressed up to go to work
no consiguieron arreglarse en el precio → they didn’t manage to come to an agreement about the price

 

 

우산, paraguas

▶ abrir el paraguas antes de que llueva

: opening the umbrella before it rains → being overly cautious

: 지나치게 조심하는, 오버하는🤔 이건 Lingolia에서 실수가 아닌가 싶다. 앞에 no가 없는데, 있어야 할 듯.

✒️ Siempre abriendo el paraguas antes de que llueva… Sólo estoy constipada, no hace falta que te coloques una mascarilla.
→ Always being overly cautious... I'm just constipated, no need to put on a mask.

오버하지 마라, 나 그냥 감기 걸린 거야. 마스크 쓸 필요 없어.

estar constipado: a. have a cold / nm. cold
coger un constipado = catch a cold
mascarilla: nf. mask, face mask
colocar: v. place, put, position, lay, install, plant
El niño colocó un hermoso florero sobre la mesa. → The boy placed a beautiful vase on the table.
El niño colocó sus libros en la mesa. → The child put his books on the table.

 

 

기타 가을 관련, Sobre el otoño

▶ no (siempre) llueve a gusto de todos

: not everyone can always be happy or agree

: 모두가 항상 행복한 건 아니다

✒️ Hubiera preferido ir al cine, pero no siempre llueve a gusto de todos.
→ I would have preferred to go to the movies, but not everyone likes to go to the movies.

나는 영화 보러 갔으면 좋겠다. 그렇지만 모두가 그런 건 아니다.

hubiera: v. haber 동사의 접속법 불완전과거
hubiera preferido는 접속법 과거완료 표현으로 비현실적 바람을 표현하는 것

 

▶ después da la lluvia/tempestad siempre llega la calma

: after a critical moment, everything always returns to its normal course

: 어려운 시기가 지나면, 모든 것은 제자리로 돌아간다.

✒️ Ellos dos se odiaban y ahora se aman. Ya se sabe que después de la tempestad llega la calma. → They two hated each other and now they love each other. It is known that after the storm comes the calm.

그들은 서로 미워했었다. 그리고 지금은 서로 사랑한다. 폭풍이 지난 후에는 평화가 찾아온다.

odiar: v. hate
Odio la lluvia, pero me encanta el sol.  →I hate rain, but I love sunshine.
tempestad: nf. storm, tempest, thunderstorm
el libro ha cosechado una tempestad de críticas → the book has provoked a storm of criticism
