Estamos empezando el año y por ello he decidido plantearme algunos propósitos. Y es que, aunque se haya convertido en un cliché, el tener metas bien definidas a principio de anõ, me ha ayudado a conseguir muchos objetivos en el pasado. Me gusta escribir estas cosas en papel, y aunque nunca cumplo todo al pie de la letra, me ayuda a visualizar lo que quiero lograr y a mantenerme enfocado en ello a lo largo del año.

 

Pero bueno, vamos al grano, una de las cosas que me he propuesto para este año es levantarme un poco más temprano para hacer ejercicio; a decir verdad, me da pereza madrugar y hacer ejercicio, pero creo que son hábitos que debo procurar. Otro propósito es probar nuevas recetas; me he dado cuenta de que siempre preparo los mismos platos y por eso cuando me apetece algo distinto termino gastando un dineral comiendo fuera o comprando precocinados.

 

También he decidido que este será el año para mejorar mi inglés; no más excusas, voy a agarrar al toro por los cuernos practicando todos los días hasta que mejore mi fluidez. Otro propósito que quiero lograr, si puedo y la situación actual mejora, es cruzar el charco y pasar un par de semanas en Colombia, hace mucho tiempo que he querido hacer este viaje y las cosas no se han dado.

 

Y bueno, en realidad he escrito otras cosas en la hojita, pero mejor paro aquí porque si no me va la olla y no acabo nunca.

[EN] We are starting the year and so I have decided to make some resolutions. Although it has become a cliché, having well-defined goals at the beginning of the year has helped me achieve many goals in the past. I like to write these things down on paper, and although I never accomplish everything to the letter, it helps me visualize what I want to achieve and stay focused on it throughout the year.

[KO] 새해가 시작되고 있다. 새해를 맞이하여 몇 가지 결심을 했다. 진부한 말이 되었지만, 연초에 명확한 목표를 세우는 것은 과거에 많은 목표를 달성하는 데 도움이 되었다. 나는 이런 것들을 종이에 적는 것을 좋아한다. 모든 것을 다 달성하지는 못하지만, 달성하고 싶은 것을 시각화하고 일 년 내내 집중하는 데 도움이 된다.

convertir: v. turn into, make, convert
Jesús convirtío el agua en vino. (Jesus turned water into wine.)
El trabajo lo había convertido en un hombre aburrido. (Work had changed him into a boring man.)
Aquella charla lo convirtío a la idea. (He was converted to the idea by the talk.)

convertirse: v. become, turn into, convert to

Another resolution is to try new recipes; I have realized that I always prepare the same dishes and that's why when I feel like something different I end up spending a lot of money eating out or buying precooked food.

a decir verdad: to tell (you) the truth

Yo les voté en las últimas elecciones, pero a decir verdad, ahora no les volvería a votar. (I voted for them in the last election, but to tell the truth, I now wouldn't vote for them again.)

dar pereza: to feel lazy, not to feel like it.
A veces cuando me da pereza, no me lavo el cabello y uso polvo para que se vea limpio. (Sometimes when I’m feeling lazy, I don’t wash my hair, and I just use powder to make it look clean.)
Voy a buscar a mamá al aeropuerto. Amelia no quiere ir; le da pereza. (I'm going to pick up Mom at the airport. Amelia doesn't want to go; she does't feel like it.)

pereza: nf. laziness, 게으름, 나태
No dejes que la pereza te impida lograr tus sueños. (Don't let laziness prevent you from achieving your dreams.)

receta: nf. recipe, prescription
Tengo una receta para lentejas con chorizo. (I have a recipe for lentils with chorizo.)

[KO]  좋아, 사실 나는 다른 것들도 종이에 썼다. 그렇지만 여기에서 멈추는 것이 좋겠어. 왜냐하면 내가 멈추지 않으면 나는 결고 끝낼 수 없을 것이다. 너는 어때? 너의 올해 결심들은 무엇이야?

hojita: nf. hoja의 축소형 hoja + ita = hojita; leaf, sheet, blade
La hoja del arce es un símbolo de Canadá. (The maple leaf is a symbol of Canada.)
Las hojas de hierba se mecían con la brisa. (The grass blades swayed in the breeze.)
Necesito tres hojas de papel para mis deberes. (I need three sheets of paper for my homework.)

írsele la olla: to lose the thread, to lose one's concentration, to get distracted, to act abruptly or without thinking. 
(= despitarse)
Se me fue la olla y le grité a mi jefe. (I acted without thinking and yelled at my boss.)
