El viernes pasado me enteré de que mi amigo Pedro había sido ingresado por urgencias en el hospital. Su familia me dijo que había sufrido un infarto, y que su estado de salud era muy delicado. Obviamente me llené de angustia al conocer la gravedad de la situación,

 

pues Pedro ha sido uno de mis amigos más cercanos desde que éramos unos críos; hemos compartido muchas alegrías juntos y nos hemos apoyado mutuamente en situaciones difíciles a lo largo de nuestras vidas, por eso le tengo muchísimo aprecio y valoro su amistad.

 

Afortunadamente, después de varios días en cuidados intensivos, su salud empezó a mejorar, y aunque los médicos dijeron que por poco estira la pata, parece que pronto le darán el alta. Mañana iré a visitarle al hospital, le voy a llevar algunas frutas y una tarjeta para desearle una pronta recuperación,

pero también voy a aprovechar el momento para darle un tirón de orejas pues creo que últimamente ha descuidado mucho su salud, ¡y mira lo que pasa!; desde que lo ascendieron en su empresa ha estado comiendo muy mal y a deshoras, además está estresado todo el tiempo a causa de los problemas en su trabajo.

 

Obviamente no voy a hacer leña del árbol caído, pues suficiente ha tenido el pobre con esta situación, pero creo que como amigo es mi deber llamarle la atención para que entienda que el cuidado de nuestra salud física y mental debe estar por encima de los afanes de esta vida.

estirar la pata: to die, to kick the bucket, to croak, to bite it
