He decidido buscar un nuevo empleo y darle un rumbo distinto a mi vida. Y no, no es una decisión que haya tomado a la ligera; llevo muchos años trabajando para la misma empresa y, aunque estoy muy agradecido por la oportunidad que en su momento me brindó para adquirir experiencia y crecer como profesional, el tiempo ha pasado y ha llegado la hora de buscar nuevos horizontes.

 

Durante el último año me he sentido estancado, he perdido la motivación para cumplir con mis metas, pues todo me parece muy tedioso y aburrido. El cargo que desempeño ya no es estimulante, no aprendo cosas nuevas y todo parece indicar que continuará así por mucho tiempo. Hablé con mi jefe para ver si había alguna posibilidad de promoverme a otro cargo u otro departamento, pero se ha negado rotundamente;

de hecho, me dijo que en vez de pensar en hacer algo diferente me enfocara en mejorar mis resultados actuales pues dejaban mucho que desear. Esa fue la gota que colmó el vaso, me sentí muy incomprendido y creo que su actitud es bastante injusta, pues siempre he dado lo mejor de mí y a lo largo del tiempo he demostrado de muchas maneras que tengo potencial y que soy buendo en lo que hago. En fin, a palabras necias oídos sordos.

 

Durante los últimos días he estado actualizando mi hoja de vida y mi perfil en LinkedIn y he hecho algunas llamadas a algunos de mis contactos más influyentes porque quiero encontrar otro empleo donde pueda poner a prueba mis habilidades y enfrentarme a nuevos retos que me permitan seguir mejorando y avanzando en mi carrera profesional.

 

Obviamente, debo andar con pies de plomo, no quiero que mi jefe se entere aún de mi decisión, pues no renunciaré a este trabajo hasta que encuentre uno mejor. Por ahora intentaré hacer de tripas corazón para ir a mi oficina cada día y hacer mi trabajo lo mejor que pueda.

enfocarse: vr. focus
Esta nueva ley se enfoca a las mejoras en el sistema de salud. (The new law focuses on improvements to the healthcare system.)

dejar mucho que desear: it leaves a lot to be desired, 많은 아쉬움을 남기다. 결점이 많다.

la gota que comló el vaso: 직역을 하면 "the drop that filled the glass"인데 은유적으로 사용된다. 마지막 지푸라기나 마지막 한 방울이 심각한 변화나 폭발/변화를 일으킨다는 의미로 사용된다.

Nuestros padres dieron lo mejor de sí (mismo) por nosotros. (우리 부모님은 우리를 위해 최선을 다하신다.)
Ella dio lo mejor de sí (misma) durante el examen. (그녀는 시험을 보는 동안 최선을 다했다.)

a palabras necias, oídos sordos: turn a deaf ear to nonsense, don't argue with ignorance, 어리석은 말에는 귀머거리가 되는 게 낫다. 어리석은 말은 들을 필요가 없다.
Me jefe me dijo un montón de cosas feas; pero bueno, a palabras necias, oídos sordos. (나의 상사는 나에게 심한 말들을 많이 했지만, 신경 쓰지 않았다.)

poner a prueba: to try something out, to test something
Los niños siempre ponen a prueba mi paciencia. (아이들은 언제나 나의 인내심을 테스트한다.)
Estar a régimen pone a prueba tu disciplina y determinación. (다이어트는 절제력과 결단력을 시험한다.)

andar con pies de plomo: to tread carefully, cautiously
(= ir con pies de plomo, andarse con cuidado)
Si vas a salir con ese chico ve con pies de plomo, me han dicho que es bastante complicado. (그 녀석과 데이트를 하러 나간다면 신중하게 봐라. 그는 좀 복잡하다고 들었다.)
Si te mintió una vez puede que lo vuelva a hacer, tú ve con pies de plomo. (너에게 한 번 거짓말을 했다면 또다시 할 수 있다. 잘 봐라.)

enterar: v. inform, notify, (Chile, Mexico) pay, make up, (Chile) complete
enterar a alguien de algo = to inform somebody of something, notify sb of sth, let sb know of sth.
Tenemos que enterar a las autoridades. (We have to inform the authorities.)
La secretaria le enviará una carta para enterarle. (The secretary will send a letter to notify you.)

renunciar: v. resign, quit
El político decidió renunciar después del escándalo. (The politician decided to resign after the scandal.)
He decidido renunciar a mi puesto. (I've decided to quit my job.)

hacer de tripas corazón: 직역하면 "to make heart out of guts"인데 무언가를 하기 싫거나, 망설이는 상황이지만 그것을 하는 상황을 표현한다. 거리낌을 극복하고 내면의 강한 정신력을 끌어내서 그것을 하는 상황!!!
영어로는 to bite the bullet, to pluck up the courage 정도로 번역할 수 있다.
감정과 실제 행동이 대조되는 상황이다. 
"Tuve que hacer de tripas corazón y asistir a la fiesta, aunque no tenía ganas." (I had to force myself to attend the party, even though I didn't feel like it.)
"A pesar de su miedo, hizo de tripas corazón y subió al escenario para dar su presentación." (Despite his fear, he steeled himself and went up on stage to give his presentation.)
"Aunque no le agradaba la idea, hizo de tripas corazón y ayudó a su vecino a mudarse." (Even though he didn't like the idea, he gritted his teeth and helped his neighbor move.)
