Bruja 마녀

caza de brujas

: (직역) Witch-hunt

: persecution(박해) or reprisals(보복, 앙갚음) for political or social reasons.

: 정치적이거나 사회적인 이유로 박해, 보복을 하는 것

 

✒️ Se ha destapado un nuevo caso de corrupción y el Tribunal Supremo está en plena caza de brujas.

→ A new case of corruption has been uncovered and the Supreme Court is in the middle of a witch hunt.

→ 새로운 부패 사건이 드러났다. 그리고 대법원은 마녀사냥을 하고 있다.

destapar: v. uncover, expose, open up
La labor del detective destapó la verdad. → The detective's work uncovered the truth.
corrupción: nf. corruption
La corrupción política empeora la pobreza del país. → Political corruption exacerbates the country's poverty.
Tribunal Supremo: nm. Supreme Court 대법원
caza: nf. hunt, hunting, game, chase
Hay mucha caza en este coto. → There is a lot of game in this hunting ground.
Las actividades de la feria medieval incluyen la caza del cerdo. The medieval fair activities include a pig chase.

✒️  No te creas nada de lo que diga Raúl, es un fantasma. Él nunca ha estado en Estados Unidos.

→ Don't believe anything Raul says, he's a braggart. He has never been to the United States.

→ 라울이 말하는 것은 어떤 것도 믿지 마라. 그는 허풍쟁이다. 그는 미국에 가 본 적이 없다.

fantasma: nm. ghost, phantom, boaster, braggart, a. ghost, phantom
decir: v. say, tell, call; 1인칭 현재/불완과/과거/미래: digo/decía/dije/diré
¿cómo ha dicho usted? →ㅠpardon?  what did you say?

 

parecer cosa de brujas

: (직역) It seems like the thing of witch, 마녀의 물건 같다.

: something strange or difficult to explain

: 뭔가 이상하거나, 비정상적, 설명하기 어려운 것을 묘사

 

✒️ Acabo de guardar en un cajón cincuenta euros y ya no están. Esto parece cosa de brujas.

→ I have just put fifty euros in a drawer and they are gone. This seems to be a witch's thing.

→ 내가 방금 전에 50유로를 서랍 안에 두었는데, 사라졌어! 이상해!

He guardado las nóminas de mis trabajos anteriores. → I have saved the payslips from my previous jobs.
Guardo todas las cartas que me manda mi novio. → I keep all the letters my boyfriend sends me.
Tuve que guardar la medicina en un lugar fresco. → I had to store the medicine in a cool place.
Dos policías guardan la entrada de la instalación. → Two police officers guard the entrance of the facility.
La familia guardó las apariencias a pesar de la recesión. → The family kept up appearances despite the recession.
cajón: nm. drawer, box, tray
La secretaria guardó los documentos en el primer cajón del escritorio. → The secretary put the documents in the top desk drawer.

 

Lobo 늑대

meterse en la boca del lobo

: (직역) get into the mouth of the woolf, to go into the lion's den

: to go straight into danger or get into a compromising situation.

: 호랑이굴/사자굴에 들어가다. 위험을 무릅쓰다. 

 

✒️ No contradigas al jefe si no quieres meterte en la boca del lobo.

→ Don't contradict the boss if you don't want to get into the lion's den.

→ 보스에게 반박하지 말아라. 위험에 처하고 싶지 않다면.

contradecir: v. contradict, reject, oppose
El acusado contradijo los hechos presentados por el testigo. → The defendant rejected the facts presented by the witness.

 

verle las orejas al lobo

: (직역) seeing the wolf's ears

: noticing a danger and reacting

: 위험이 다가오는 것을 알다. 좋지 않은 것이 닥치고 있음을 알아채다.

 

✒️ En cuanto leí los comentarios de opinión de la web le vi las orejas al lobo. Aquella página web era un fraude.

→ As soon as I read the comments on the website, I saw the wolf's ears. That website was a fraud.

그 웹사이트에서 코멘트를 읽자마자 나는 뭔가 좋지 않은 느낌이 왔다. 그 웹사이트는 가짜였다.

oreja: nf. ear
fraude: nm. fraud
El auditor investigó un caso de fraude en la empresa. → The auditor investigated a case of fraud at the company.

 

Sangre 피, Muerto 시체, Tumba 무덤, 봉분

hacerse mala sangre

: (직역) to get bad blood

: getting angry or grumpy, get upset

: 화가 나다.

 

✒️ Yo no me hago mala sangre por ese tipo de tonterías. Realmente me da igual que no me hayan invitado a la boda.

→ I don't get upset about that kind of nonsense. I really don't care that they didn't invite me to the wedding.

나는 그런 일로 화가 나지 않는다. 그들이 나를 결혼식에 초대하지 않은 것에 신경도 안 쓴다.

tontería: nf. nonsense, crap, humbug
Creo que es mejor callarse que decir tonterías. → I think it is better to shut up than to talk crap.
boda: nf. wedding, marriage
La boda real fue un evento memorable. → The royal wedding was a memorable event.
Aún tenemos que fijar una fecha para la boda. → We still have to set a date for the wedding.

 

chuparle a alguien la sangre

: (직역) suck someone's blood

: taking advantage of someone

: 누군가의 등골을 빨아먹다. 누군가를 이용해 먹다.

 

✒️ Tu jefe sabe que siempre te quedarás a hacer horas extras si es necesario y no hace más que chuparte la sangre.

→ Your boss knows you'll always stay on for overtime if necessary and does nothing but suck your blood.

너의 보스는 필요할 경우 네가 언제나 야근을 할 수 있다는 것을 알고 있다. 그런데 그건 상사가 널 이용해 먹는 것이다. (너의 등골을 뽑아 먹는 것이다.)

chupar: v. suck
La niña chupaba una piruleta. → The girl was sucking a lollipop.

 

cargar con el muerto

: (직역) carry the dead

: to take the blame that does not belong to someone(you)

: 책임이 없는 사람이 어떠한 일을 떠맡는 것을 묘사

 

✒️ A mi hermana se le cayó el jarrón y ahora me toca cargar a mi con el muerto para que mi madre no se enfade.

→ My sister dropped the vase and now it's my turn to carry the dead body so my mother doesn't get mad.

나의 여동생은 꽃병을 떨어뜨렸다. 엄마에게 혼나지 않기 위해(엄마가 화나지 않도록) 내가 깨진 꽃병을 치워야 한다. 

caer: v. fall, drop, collapse, plunge 
현재변화형: caigo/caes/cae/caemos/caéis/caen
El ciclista patinó y cayó en una zanja. → The cyclist skidded and fell into a ditch.
La temperatura cayó durante la noche. →  The temperature dropped during the night.
La Unión Soviética cayó en 1991. →  The Soviet Union collapsed in 1991.
jarrón: nm. vase, jar
El jarrón de vidrio es muy frágil. The glass vase is very delicate.
enfadar: v. annoy, steam sb. up
Las protestas de mi hermana enfadaron a mi padre. → My sister's protests annoyed my father.

 

no tener donde caerse muerto

: (직역) not having a place to drop dead

: being very poor or lonely, not to have a penny to one’s name

: 매우 가난하거나 외로운, 빈털터리이다. 한 푼도 없다.

 

✒️ Fue una persona muy popular durante los años ochenta, pero después de sus estafas, ahora no tiene donde caerse muerto. 

→ He was a very popular person during the eighties, but after his scams, now he has nowhere to drop dead.

그는 80년대에 매우 유명했었다. 그러나 사기를 당한 후, 그는 매우 가난하다. (한 푼도 없다/죽을 곳조차 없다.)

después de: prep. after
Mi estómago se calmó después de comer algo. My stomach settled after eating something.
estafa: nf. scam, fraud
La oferta de trabajo resultó ser una estafa. → The job offer turned out to be a scam.

 

cavarse su propia tumba

: (직역) digging one's own grave

: harming yourself

: 자기의 무덤을 파다 (이건 우리가 하는 말과 같다.)

 

✒️ Mintiendo a todas horas te estás cavando tu propia tumba.

→ By lying all the time you are digging your own grave.

항상 거짓말을 하는 것은 결국 너 자신의 무덤을 파는 것이다.

mentir: v. lie, cheat
Mi amiga es muy honesta, nunca miente. → My friend is very honest, she never lies.
Una empresa honesta nunca miente a sus clientes. → An honest company never cheats its customers.
cavar: f. dig, delve(뒤지다)
El jardinero cavó un agujero con la pala. → The gardener dug a hole with the shovel.
Los periodistas cavaron en la vida privada del político. → Journalists delved into the politician's private life.

 

llevárselo a la tumba

: (직역) take it to the grave

: keep the secret unconditionally

: 무덤으로 가져가다. 무조건적으로 비밀을 지키다. (무덤까지 가져가!)

 

✒️ Me llevaré la receta de mi abuela a la tumba.

→ I'll take my grandmother's recipe to my grave.

나는 할머니의 레시피를 무덤까지 가져갈 것이다. (누구에게도 알려주지 않겠다.)

llevar: v. carry, take, conduct, wear (더 다양한 의미로 사용되지만 이 정도만)
El padre lleva a su hija a hombros. → The father carries his daughter on his shoulders.
Mi padre se estableció en el campo para llevar una vida tranquila. → My father settled in the countryside to lead a quiet life.
